About Role

At Plenty, we are building out a team of engineers to tackle problems that reimagine the way humanity grows food. In this role, you will develop reliability test methods, equipment, statistics and reporting methods for our farming hardware.

What You'll Do

  • Design and execute accelerated life tests for PCBA’s, machines, and dynamic mechanical components

  • Design and build reliability test rigs for electrical and mechanical vertical grow hardware

  • Create data logging methods and produce reports using rigorous statistical methods

  • Calculate the effect of thermal, mechanical and electrical loading on expected system life

  • Research, develop and execute chemical compatibility and material suitability tests

  • Build a reliability testing function within Plenty including ownership of test equipment

  • Work with outside regulatory and reliability test houses as needed 

What We're Looking For

  • Demonstrated root-cause analysis of failures in electrical and mechanical hardware

  • Experience reading schematics and mechanical part and assembly drawings

  • Experience implementing data logging equipment for experimentation and test

  • Knowledge of experimental statistics and reliability science

  • Knowledge of safe use of basic hand and machine tools as well as basic electrical testing equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes and voltage meters

  • 5+ years of experience in a hardware test role

  • A graduate from a four year engineering program or the international equivalent

  • Nice-to-Have Skills: Experience with testing of embedded systems, experience testing power or lighting hardware, experience with testing to regulatory standards
