Engineering Manager, Machine Design

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead project teams in the development of custom automation machinery from requirements gathering and prototyping through to system commissioning and improvement. In this role you will help create best-in-class equipment through the lenses of overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), people and food safety, and scalability. You will collaborate with the border engineering team to integrate these systems into the larger automated ecosystem, and help to establish and drive standardization across the team. Additionally, you will work cross functionally with a brilliant team of operators, maintenance technicians, and plant scientists. You will be part of a passionate and dynamic team that is developing new technology from the ground up to improve humanity’s access to delicious, clean, reliable, and healthy produce.

What You'll Do
Define system requirements and performance metrics for novel automated machinery
Design, prototype, and test new systems designs in collaboration with engineering partners in hardware, controls, and software
Partner internally with a wide variety of teams within Plenty and collaborate externally with vendors and suppliers
Establish and promote best practices for system safety, cleanliness, reliability, and performance
Execute projects against aggressive timeline and performance targets
Change the landscape of food production and distribution
What We're Looking For
Creative and rigorous engineering designer with a track record of high performance and high reliability designs
Experience designing, testing, refining, and commissioning custom automation equipment
Spectacular collaboration and communication skills on interdisciplinary teams
Experience leading teams or mentoring junior engineers is a plus
BS, MS or Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
