People Operations Generalist (Benefits & Systems)

About Role

The people and teams who make up Plenty are at the core of how we do that. The People Operations Generalist is a key member of the People Operations team who helps to support a great employee experience! We are looking for a bright "people person" with a strong generalist background who excels in key areas of benefits administration, HRIS management, business partnership, employee relations, implementing programs to drive employee engagement and onboarding. Reporting to the Director of People Operations, you will play an integral role in supporting and driving an engaged employee experience and People processes for Plenty’s rapidly growing organization in South San Francisco.

What You'll Do 

  • Provide day-to-day generalist support of People services; respond to general employee questions related to benefits, company policies and procedures.

  • Timely processing, input and ongoing data entry into the Human Resources information management system (HRIS); develop HRIS tools as needed.

  • Pull and format reports for internal department needs on a regular basis.

  • Coordinate Health & Welfare programs and events, including annual open enrollment.

  • Partner with the People Operations Generalist to evaluate and improve the onboarding process.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations; keep up to date on employment law and current best practices to help better facilitate the employee experience.

  • Support compliance activities including EEO reporting and annual benefit plan audits.

  • Process and manage worker’s compensation claims.

  • Administer 401(k) plan and assist with the annual plan audit.

  • Process leaves of absence.

  • Respond and resolve benefit claims issues.

  • Create and implement policies, procedures, and processes to effect continual improvements in the efficiency of the People function.

  • Manages special projects as assigned in a broad range of areas, as business needs arise.

What We're Looking For

  • 6-8+ years of direct Human Resources or People Operations experience

  • Four-year degree or equivalent from an accredited university, highly desired

  • Excitement to work in a startup environment; track record of being adaptable to changing priorities in a fluid, high-growth environment

  • Able to work at a high level of autonomy to manage multiple ongoing issues and complex employee matters with minimum supervision

  • Knowledge of HR compliance regulations, employment laws, and industry best practices

  • Organized and attention-to-detail approach (strong tactical execution), effectively exercise independent judgment, and make sound decisions

  • Values and respects confidentiality

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving experience

  • Successful track record of implementing HR processes

  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal) and exemplary customer service skills

  • Team player with a sense of ownership and "get things done" attitude - self-motivated and able to thrive in a fast-paced and self-directed environment

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to build partnerships and establish rapport and credibility at all levels

  • Deep comfort level with technical systems and softwares, experience with Paylocity a plus
