The people and teams who make up Plenty are at the core of how we do that. We are an ag-tech company looking for a Research Associate Plenty who will support all phases of plant production and applied plant science research in a modern, high-technology hydroponic farm.

About Role

The Research Associate will be engaged with the company’s efforts to enhance the production and research of crops in various hydroponic growing environments. This person will assist with plant handling, harvesting, seeding, monitoring, sanitation, as well as collection of environmental and production data.

What You'll Do

  • This will be a hands-on roll where you will be harvesting/transplanting crops
  • Assisting Research Scientists with controlling/optimizing the production environment to maximize product quality and economic yields
  • Laboratory duties may include and are not limited to: chemical mixing, plant propagation, literature review, pest and nutrient management, plant and environmental data collection, experimental set-up and execution, cleaning lab/plant materials and equipment, seed sowing and transplant, insuring overall plant health and care are priority
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed and occasional weekend shifts will be assigned
  • Work closely with the Plant Science and R & D teams in Laramie to execute all aspects of plant growth and experimental duties for optimization and product development

What We're Looking For

  • B.S. in Botany, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field with coursework in Plant Sciences
  • Ability to lead small teams
  • Ability to assist in a wide array of activities in operating a large-scale hydroponic research farm
  • Interest in hydroponic fruit and vegetable production
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing situations
  • Proven ability to design, establish, collect data, and report on plant research experiments
  • Previous employment experience related to nursery production, or plant research in a laboratory setting
  • Previous experience with weighing/mixing laboratory chemicals, sterile technique, performing a diversity of analytical tests  
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds
  • Availability for travel or weekend shifts
  • Ability to effectively follow directions for assigned tasks and report progress
  • Humble, teachable team-player who is enthusiastic and hard-working
