About Role

In this role you will be responsible for improving and implementing Plenty’s Safety Program to minimize the risk of job-related accidents and ensure an environment where employees are aware of occupational health and safety. You will monitor facility operations to eliminate hazardous activities, and develop the necessary policies to ensure contractors and third-party consultants also adhere to our safety program.
 

What You'll Do

  • Review, analyze and optimize our Plenty Worker Safety Program

  • Accountable for Plenty’s corporate workplace safety decisions and implementation

  • Develop & implement contractor safety program; authorized to approve or discontinue build contractors based on safety and housekeeping record

  • Ensure each site has resources to implement and upgrade its worker safety system

  • Ensure root cause analyses, corrective actions, and preventive actions are taken when problems or other opportunities for improvement arise at each site

  • Ensure that lessons learned from worker safety challenges are incorporated into future operations & facility design at each site across the company

  • Review and analyze each site’s worker safety program at least annually

  • Provide safety analysis on all future farm designs for our Mechanical Engineering and Grow teams
  • Report to Corporate Compliance regarding trend analysis

  • Lead  and influence employees of all levels to achieve company safety goals, follow safety procedures, and complete safety projects or tasks

  • Train engineering/FarmOps staff on how to design/achieve worker-safe tools & equipment and update worker safety programs as needed for new equipment or activities

  • Interact with local, state, and federal authorities in case of regulatory challenges

  • Work with the New Markets Department to evaluate whether candidate sites are capable of meeting worker safety requirements and eliminate sites that cannot

  • Train site supervision staff, including staff who interact with construction contractors

  • Train site worker safety specialist (may be a member of general operations staff)

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university and related work experience
  • Must have OSHA 30-hr training for general industry

  • Past experience in a manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or similar industry required

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification preferred

  • Experience working with all levels of employees in an organization, from associates up to the CEO

  • Highly motivated/self-starter who is able to work autonomously

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational and planning skills in a fast-paced environment
