About Role

At Plenty, we are building out a team of engineers to tackle problems that reimagine the way humanity grows food. In this role, you will be on the ground, in the farm, making sure that lighting, sensing and control hardware is installed and running perfectly.

What You'll Do

  • Become an expert in our lighting, vision and sensing systems

  • Install new equipment for the first time and bring lessons learned back to design engineers

  • Debug electrical and mechanical farm systems

  • Develop hardware operation training and manuals for farm staff

  • Travel to farm sites for hands-on work

  • Design one-off mechanical mounting and fixturing schemes for devices where necessary

  • Document your work so that it can be replicated

  • Some physical requirements exist. You’ll be using lifts or ladders and common hand tools.

You’ll also be wearing PPE and clean room attire when in the farm.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience reading mechanical assembly drawings, part drawings, schematics and program code

  • Experience with CAD and creating basic engineering drawings

  • Experience installing and programming electrical-mechanical equipment such as sensors, controllers and appliances

  • Experience with installation qualification practices and procedures

  • Experience working in document-controlled and SOP-driven manufacturing environments

  • Knowledge of safe use of basic hand and machine tools and basic electronic measurement equipment like oscilloscopes and multimeters

  • 4+ years of experience

  • BS in Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering or equivalent

  • Someone willing to travel up to 50% of their time

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience implementing industrial or commercial vision systems

Food Safety Requirements

Make sure equipment is designed and installed in a way that is suitable for food safety and easily cleanable.
